Preston L. Cobbins, DDS

Education & Training

After serving in the United States army, Dr. Cobbins, a native of Blackhawk, MS, completed his undergraduate studies at Mississippi State University with a BS degree in Microbiology. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Meharry Medical College and went on to complete an advanced education in general dentistry at the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Dentistry.

Dental Practices

Shortly after completing his formal education and training, Dr. Preston L. Cobbins opened Cobbins Family Dentistry in the historic district of downtown Canton, MS. His mission was and is to provide high quality dental care to citizens and visitors of the State of Mississippi. In 2002 the practice was incorporated and became SmileBuilders, Inc. where Dr. Cobbins works as president and dentist. Expericing tremendous growth, Dr. Cobbins and SmileBuilders, Inc. moved in June 2006 to the current location: 1863 Hwy 43 S. in Canton, MS. Dr. Cobbins is on staff at Madison River Oaks Medical Center and he is also a Clinical Instructor at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Faulkner Memorial Award;Hinman Scholar; National Collegiate Medical Professions Awards; Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Honor Dental Society; Who’s Who Among Colleges and Universities; Meharry Medical College’s Dean’s List and National Dean’s List; United States Achievement Academy’s All American Scholars; Meharry Medical College Microbiology Award and Beta Beta Beta Honor Society. He also has military honors: The Good Conduct Medal, Humanitarian Service Award and the Soldier of the Month Award.

Tabernacle of Praise Church Associate Elder and New Zion Missionary Church Bible Study teacher, National Dental Association, American Dental Association, Ewell-Neil Dental Society ( past Vice President), Mississippi Dental Society (Chaplain) and Mississipi Dental Association, Mississippi Dental Society past president, currently serving as Chaplain and Board of Trustee member.

Other Interests

“First things first” I love and have a passion for teaching the Word of God. I really enjoy spending time with family. Fishing, hunting, basketball, racquetball and volleyball.
